Megan DeSoto is a photographer, artist, and educator who brings creative vision, strategic thinking, and decisive leadership to her work. A U.S. Air Force veteran and full-time art faculty member at Collin College’s Wylie Campus, she is helping build an arts program that connects creative exploration with the skills students need to lead, communicate, and make an impact. DeSoto holds an MFA in Studio Art–Photography from the University of North Texas and a BFA from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her experience spans higher education, commercial photography, advertising, and curriculum development—giving her a perspective grounded in both artistic inquiry and professional practice.  Her classroom is a place to develop ideas and the confidence to defend them. Working withz students across majors, DeSoto uses art and visual culture to sharpen critical thinking, strengthen communication, and cultivate collaboration and leadership. She asks students to look closely, challenge assumptions, take creative risks, and understand how images influence people, brands, and institutions. Through shared inquiry and making, she builds community while connecting creative thinking to careers far beyond the arts. Based in North Texas, DeSoto combines an approachable presence with high expectations and a clear sense of purpose. Whether developing a course, mentoring a student, or creating photographs for a client, she brings the same conviction: ideas deserve rigorous development, individual perspectives have power, and creativity belongs wherever decisions are made. ​​
